Abstract

The initial low pressure turbine blade profiles designed by G.T.R.E. for their GTX engine had some scope for improvement in performance with regard to aerodynamic optimization .This aspect was required to be looked into, through this sponsored project by G.T.R.E. The LPT Rotor and Stator blade profiles designated as P-27/GTX-35 were analyzed and design modification were incorporated to get better surface velocity distribution.The design modifications of these profiles were carried out through an iterative procedure using both design and analysis solutions based on Singularity Method.The design modifications and analysis of stator blade profiles were carried out at three different sections namely Hub,Mean and Tip.Blade parameters like Pitch,Chord,Max.thickness,Throat,Stagger,Inlet and Outlet flow angles were maintained more or less same as the values given by the sponsor.Blade camber was allowed to vary to get a required velocity distribution.The modified Stator and Rotor blade profiles showed improvement in velocity distribution.This work was sponsored and funded by G.T.R.E., Bangalore for the development of their turbine stages.
