Abstract

Turbine blade profiles were analysed theoretically for surface velocity.Boundary Layer and associated Profile Loss assuming the flow to be two dimensional and incompressible.The surface velocity distribution was estimated using singularity method based on Martensen's approach and boundary layer growth by Momentum Integral method.Each profile was analysed for three fluid inlet angles,a given stagger, a given pitch and unit inlet velocity.The effect of incidence on velocity distribution ,outlet velocity, outlet angle,total circulation and profile loss were studied in detail.The results are very useful in understanding the aerodynamics of the blade profiles.The results will be used in blade loading and heat transfer calculations.This work was carried out at the Propulsion Division of National Aeronautical Laboratory as a sponsored research project from G.T.R.E., Bangalore
