T3-40 Profile blades and cascade boxes using these blades with central blade being instrumented for surface pressure measurements were prepared.The profile loss evaluation was carried out by undertaking simulated tests in the subsonic cascade tunnel.The profile loss was estimated by measuring the downstream wake for five pitch to chord ratios(0.7,0.8,0.85,0.9,1.0),three stagger angles (47°, 53°, 57.5°)and eight incidence angles.In addition to this the surface static pressure distributions were also measured for one pitch to chord ratio(0.85).The results were reduced to the form of performance characteristics using a computer programme.The effect of incidence,stagger, mach number and S/C on profile loss was studied in detail.The effect of incidence and stagger on pressure distribution was also studied.The results obtained provide useful information regarding the performance of the profile in understanding the influence of design parameters.The work was carried out at the propulsion division of N.A.L. as a sponsored research project from BHEL corporate R & D unit.
