The non-porous airbag was fabricated successfully and tested to assess the energy absorption capabilities at different drop heights with and without vents, on ground and on water. For the purpose of conducting tests on water, a tank was assembled below the FGCDT with dimensions of 1.5m x1.5 m xl m. The vent material was first characterized by conducting uniaxial stress strain tests on samples. The tests were first conducted on water with airbags without vents and then with vents of size 40mm,50mm and 60mm. It is found that with increase in drop heights there is increase in peak pressure and accelerations. It was also found that with increase in vent size, there is decrease in peak pressure and acceleration and hence more energy absorption.
