Abstract

Non-uniform rational b-splines (NURBS) are one of the most common and optimal geometric and mathematical tools of design. Modern industrial design such as aerospace shape modeling employs surfaces and objects generated by using NURBS-based modelers. Mathematical formulation of NURBS curves and surfaces has been given along with their geometric and analytic properties. Further, surface manipulation techniques of the NURBS geometry have also been enumerated. Code and softwares for generation and visualization of NURBS have also been detailed.
