    Abstract

    Unsteady or periodic flow around a bluff (non-streamlined) body is a very important13; problem of engineering interest. The well-known phenomenon of periodic vortex13; shedding in the wake of a cylinder places an important role in the design of structures of13; cylindrical shape exposed to aero- or hydrodynamic loading e.g., tall towers, offshore13; structures efc.. In order to understand and account for the phenomenon of fluid structure13; interaction, the first important task to analyse is the time dependent flow around the13; structure. The present work consists of CFD analysis of the periodic laminar flow around13; a circular cylinder at low Reynolds number using an existing multiblock structured time13; accurate RANS code developed in the CTFD Division, NAL.
