A turbine blade having inbuilt cooling arrangement,which comprises a blade spar (3) having grooves (1) on its outer surface through which coolant flows,the said grooves communicating with a plenum chamber (5) provided below the roof (7) the said blade roof (7) being provided passage through holes (6) to have connection between the said plenum chamber (5) and the said grooves (1),a thin metallic sheet or skin (8) fixed over the blade spar (3) by seams (10) forming the blade surface (9) thereby forming cooling passage (11).
