Abstract
This paper provides details of the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations based Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) technology developed for numerical simulation of hypersonic real gas flows. Numerical and physical aspects of such a simulation are emphasized to bring out the challenges involved. Results of validation of the RANS code on a standard configuration for which experimental data is available are discussed.
