Abstract
The SARAS Programme therefore faced many trials and tribulations almost right through the 1990's. The was even a phase when SARAS became SARAS-DUET following a decision to collaborate with a Russian design uncannily similar to a design on their own drawing board. But the disintegration of the Soviet Union eventually finished off this stillborn collaboration13;
