Abstract

A computer-oriented method is presented which makes use of the stiffness method and finite-element technique to study the elastic stresses and deflections of asymmetric rotating disks. The method utilizes triangular elements to obtain the stiffness matrix of the subsystem. The values are then used to form the overall stiffness matrix of the system. The presence of axial stresses in turbine rotors and their contribution to displacement at the bore are monstrated.
