Abstract
A high intensity light source of short duration which can be used for Schlieren and direct shadow photography is described. The source is essentially a high voltage spark which can be synchronised with the event under study or triggered with a preset delay, Provision is also made in13; the head assembly for change over to a continuous light source (tungsten filament lamp) for Schlieren studies, the optical alignment remaining the same.
