Abstract
This paper describes the development of a comprehensive and13; generic state space model for a multi-input multi-13; output (MIMO) electro-hydraulic structural loading system easily amenable multivzriable control analysis. Based on Galerkin's method, a systematic procedure of approximating distributed beam structures by lumped parameter models is presented. Mode1 validation was successfully carried out on an experimental test rig for both single and twin channel excitation systems. An interesting control-theoretic characterisation based on multivariable zeros to predict low frequency stability behaviour in such systems is also highlighted.
