Abstract
An oil flow visualization technique to observe the flow around bluff body flame holders has been successfully developed. The characteristics of flow around circular, round nosed V-gutter and 30xB0; wedge type flame holders have been studied. A non dimensional residence time parameter has been proposed. The importance of this parameter in predicting the blow off13; characteristics of V-gutter flame holders has been demonstrated.
