Abstract
Disc design consists basically in establishing a shape which is as light as possible and yet strong enough to withstand the severe radial and tangential loads to which the disc is subjected. In order to establish such a shape, design procedure and standard design criteria have to be set up. one of the first steps in this, would be the determination of stresses in gas turbine disc under operating conditions.
