Abstract
A three - tube cobra type probe and an asymmetric three - tube probe have been used in subsonic cascade tunnel for the measurement of wake profile and a quantitative comparison of their performance is made.In the case of the cobra probe, a little variation in the flow direction13; is observed during wake traverse due to the presence of the total pressure gradient in the plane containing the yaw sensing elements. The average outlet angle measured by an asymmetric probe is about 3.0 degrees more than the average angle measured by a cobra - type probe. However the values of the total pressure loss and the absolute outlet velocity are found to be very much the same in both cases.
