Abstract
A field consistent eight nodad displacement type solid element: is derived by augmenting the unual 9 trilinear shape functions with bubble functions and smoothing to achieve consistent definitions for the constrained strainfielde. This produces an element that is free of parasitic shear and 'Poisoonls locking' and is now13; also frame invariantt fee. the element stiffnesses are invariant whatever be the node numbering scheme or in whatever orientation the elentent local axes system is chosen. This has been made possible wing natural coordinate based displacements and co-variante train definitions and appropriate transfomations to the13; carteoian co-ordinate frame.
