Abstract
The frequency values obtained by using two-degree-of-freedom per node and four-degree-of-freedom per node elements for uniform, stepped, and continuous beams are compared for various boundary conditions to demonstrate the superior performance of the four-degree-of-freedom per node element. The stiffness and mass matrices for the element are given in explicit form.
