Abstract
Properties of different versions of a family of compact Upwind Difference (CUD) schemes are investigated for unsteady calculations. An entropy consistent conservative version of the family with at least second order accuracy and a possible generalisation of the CUD operators for general fluxes is proposed. Numerical experiments indicate that entropy consistency is achieved without the incorporation of a second order artificial viscosity. Wiggle free solutions are computed through the use of flux limiters.
