    Abstract

    This report describes the structural design of ribs of composite rudder. Net pressure distribution as estimated by Dornier is used to calculate the load intensities acting on various ribs. Stress analyses of metallic and composite ribs are carried out by employing laminated beam theory. Various geometrical and lamination parameters of composite ribs are determined by iterative procedure such that the deflections in metallic and composite versions are matched with each other.
