Abstract
A windmill named SAMIRA has been designed to enable cost-effective water-lifting from shallow wells in windy areas. It has a medium speed 3-bladed rotor of 7.5 m diameter provided with an innovative, self actuated slat cum spoiler arrangement for regulation in high wind speeds. The power transmission is rotary and the pump is centrifugal which imparts much needed ruggedness for field use.
