Abstract
A comparative study of the 4-noded quadrilateral plane shell element SHELL4T available in COSMOS/M and the Field- and Edge- Consistent QUAD4 plane shell element(SKQDGP), developed at NAL, Bangalore, is made. For comparison sake, the corresponding results of QUAD4 available in MSC/NASTRAN[3J is al so presented. The Test Examples are carefully chosen as tc highlight the probable errors in the formulation of SHELL 4T. The results confirm the superiority of SKQDGP element over the currently available SHELL 4T of COSMOS/M. The comparative results presented in this report also suggests that the performance of SHELL4T is slightly better than QUAD4 of MSC/NASTRAN.
