    Abstract

    An experimental technique is proposed for estimation of crack length as well as crack closure/opening stress during fatigue crack growth. A specially designed, single cantilever COD gage is used to monitor these variables during Fatigue Crack Propagation (FCP) testing. The technique was experimentally validated through electron fractography.
