Abstract
This is a report on the author's three week visit to the USSR under ILTP programme to discuss avenues for collaborative research in the area of Fatigue and Fracture . The institutions visited included the Siberian Aircraft Research Institute, the institute for Strength Problems, Kiev and the Blagonravov Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Moscow . Joint research projects including a Round-Robin on Fatigue Crack Propagation have been initiated as a consequence of the visit.
