    Abstract

    A numerical simulation of convective motion that arises when a layer of Oldroyd B fluid is heated from below is carried out . The instability for the case considered is found to begin as a travelling wave, but attains a pattern consisting of standing convective cells, with oscillatory fluid motion within the cells . The oscillatory fluid motion within the cells has been presented .
