Abstract
The third order accurate-Compact Upwind Differences (CUD-3) family of algorithms have been applied to compute solutions to an initial value problem for a Scalar Conservation,Law . Numerical results are compared with certain other selected schemes . It is concluded that artificial viscosity is essential for entropy consistency and correct shock capture by CUD - 3 schemes
