Abstract
Specimen level tests were conducted on the basic composite materials viz the glass fibre reinforced epoxy (GFRP) system being used in NALLA . The elastic and strength properties of the orthcstropic laminates were evaluated from the mechanical tests conducted on the laminated test specimens . These values form the initial inputs to the I-phase of the design of the test wing. Test results obtained on the laminates made out of unidirectional and bi-directional glass reinforcements in a room temperature cured I epoxy matrix, were in good agreement with the data reported in Martin Hollman's handbook [1] for similar composite systems approved for light aircraft applications
