Abstract
A survey of some popular upwind flux-difference schemes, both explicit and implicit, has been carried out . These schemes have reached a level of maturity where they are being increasingly used in 3D application codes for supersonic/hypersonic viscous flow computations . This is because of their ability to capture strong shocks accurately, and provide comparatively much smaller numerical dissipation within the viscous region . Different13; 3D factorisation and relaxation strategies that accompany an implicit solver are also discussed .
