Abstract
A new phase-averaging scheme based on quot;time-series approachquot; has been developed for LDV data. Instantaneous velocity data from a 2-component LDV system are acquired in synchronization with the periodic signals of the flow phenomenon and are ensemble-averaged with reference to different phases of the periodic signal. Hardware and software of modules have been developed and validated for phase-averaged LDV measurements initially with simulated data and with LDV and hot-wire measurements.The scheme has been applied to the near-wake of a 2D circular cylinder and its modification in the presence of a Forward Splitter Plate.
