Abstract
A direct numerical simulation of transitional and turbulent13; flow in a cubical cavity generated by the motion of one13; of the walls has been carried out. Apart from obtaining13; some interesting qualitative features of these complex13; flow fields we have been able to compare in detail, at13; Reynolds numbers of 3200 and 10,000, our quantitative13; results with the experimental data of Prasad and Koseff13; (1989). The overall agreement as regards the mean values13; of the velocity, the Reynolds stresses and the power spectrum is excellent.
