Abstract
Third order compact upwind operators have been used together with the split fluxes of the KFVS (Kinetic Flux Vector Splitting) scheme to obtain third order accuracy for smooth solutions to the Euler equations. The algorithm may be extended in a straightforward manner to multi-dimensional cases in a finite - or pseudo-finite volume formulation. Multi-stage Runge-Kutta time stepping is used to produce efficient integration schemes for the Euler equations that may be used for both steady and unsteady computations.13; f
