Abstract
Con q:uter networks play a vital role in several areas of IT in developing13; countries. However this is possible only, if we have an excellent inter networking13; of various LANs and WANs in the country. Identification, Monitoring and control13; of critical network parameters are very important to achieve very high of f icienc\13; and utilization of the network. A network, therefore, should have a ver} good13; performance managemnet systen - comprising the facilities for performance monitori13; ng, performance evaluation and necessary tuning of crucial parameters.13; This project document gives an overview of the performance indicators13; (service oriented and efficiency oriented) and performance monitoring which13; would be very useful for network operators and managers.
