Abstract
X-ray diffraction studies concerning the effect of thermal exposures on commercially available carbon fibres indicate that increase in heat treatment temperature as well as duration of exposure improve the stacking of planes along the crystallographic cdirection. Evidence for improvement in crystallinity has also been obtained. Tensile testing13; indicates slight improvement in the properties of heat treated fibres.
