Abstract
Though various versions of Flosolver have been in use since 1986 and many difficult and massive codes ( e.g. Panel code, DNS code, GCM-T80 code, etc.) have been parallelised on Flosolver, its accessibility to academic13; institutions having moderate budget has been limited. In the Flosolver programme emphasis has been. put on the integrated development of hardware, system software and application software; therefore many students (both undergraduates amp; postgraduate) have done their projects on13; Flosolver platform, nevertheless the segment benefited remained small. With this in view, NAL - UNI Flosolver using Multibus II back plane was built in 1996. But Multibus II being a proprietary item and, also being a low volume item of Intel, did not cut down the cost substantially; thus the required i effect of bringing teaching and demonstration of parallel processing in academic or training institutions could not be realized. 13; Personnel Computer being a high volume item, the prices are affordable and the next logical choice was to build a hardware platform using Personnel Computers and mimicking Flosolver in terms of interprocessor communication and software development environment. The essential ingredient was to build the communication device. The communication13; device was built around E-ISA bus available on Personnel Computer motherboard.13; The present report describes the details of Hardware and the Software environment of parallel platform built around Personnel Computer having E-ISA slots.
