Abstract
There is a growing trend by web services towards making HTTP secure (i.e. HTTPS), with SSL protocol implementation. Confidentiality, integrity and authentication of the HTTP connections between Web Servers and client software are guaranteed by HTTPS. This document covers conceptual overview and importance of SSL protocol and step-by-step procedures for building a secure Apache Web Server with OpenSSL and mod_ssl module.
