Abstract
Exposures to thermal pulses/spikes of 10 to 60s duration13; at T's 400xB0;C leaveunmistakable impressions on Kevlar13; 49 fibres. The tensile as well as the structural characteristics13; manifest changes which can be mutually, satisfactorily13; correlated. Pulses also cause surface damages.13; The enhancement in the tensile modulus resulting from13; a 10s pulse can be utilized to improve the modulus13; of the commercially available fibre.
