Abstract
Duringthelasttwodecades,preconditionershavebeenwidelyapplied.tosolveseveralproblemsinvariousfieldsofScienceandEngineering.Theyplayaveryimportantroleinsolvingill-conditionedproblemswhichcouldnotbesolvedotherwiseandtheseoccurofteninindustrialproblem.Preconditionerstransformthemintowell-conditionedoneshavingsmallnumberofclustersofeigen-values.These.clustersarerelatedtothenumberofiterationsrequiredtosolvetheproblemwhenCGManditsvariantsareused.Inthisreportthepreconditionersaregroupedaccordingtotheareasofapplicationnamely,Partialdifferentialequations.,Anisotropicproblems,Harwell-Boeingcollectionandothermatrices,Groundwaterflow,Semiconductor device modellingandLaserfusion.
