Abstract
The main thrust of this paper has been the13; exploitation of Cartesian grids in the numerical13; solution of transonic full potential equation.13; Notwithstanding the present-day popularity for13; the use of body-wrapped coordinare systems in the13; context of Computational Fluid Dynamics.13; concerted effort has been .aade here to work with13; Cartesian grids for a variety of flow situations:13; aerofoils. axisymmetric flows. wings and13; wing-body combinations. One reason for this is13; that the codes based on these grids become13; amenable to computers with limited storage and13; speed. Several cases are presented here for each13; of the above flow situations. 'The results clearly13; demonstrate the efficacy of Cartesian grids for13; dealing with complex geometries and also13; underscore their use in the design of computer13; codes usable as engineering tools.
