Abstract
The use of a self actuating leading edge flap for regulation of a wind machine is a novel device being developed at NAL. In order to establish the effectiveness of this device in regulating rotor speed, short term measurements were conducted on a rotor model at a windy site. The tests were conducted with different settings for the spring stiffnesses and pre-tensions. Test results were encouraging and confirmed the potentiality of the concept.
