    Abstract

A comparison of FAR 25 checked (pitch) maneuver requirements with other regulations like the JAR 25, BCAR, etc. and the associated ICAO guidelines is made by highlighting the minimum pitch accelerations prescribed by FAR 25 and their effect on the load-time histories on the horizontal tail of a typical aircraft. The need for specific advisory material as an aid to better understanding is brought out. Alternatively, a suggestion is made for the replacement of these minimum pitch acceleration requirements with guidelines similar to JAR 25, which will be in tune with the harmonization efforts.
