Abstract
This project document gives the road map for the development of impact energy absorbing structures for use in civil aircraft applications. The chosen area of work has been-the seat system which has to be designed for vertical impacts with crash speeds upto 9.4 m/s. Filament wound braided tubes were thought of as replacement materials. Initial tests with filament wound tubes has shown promising applications.
