    Abstract

    This document gives some of the highlights of installation of ACS domes on site at AF station, Hindan during the month of January - February 2006. A rigid spherical supporting dome of 9 meter internal diameter dome with 6 types of trapezium panels and one circular panel were designed and fabricated. Different types of panels were randomly checked for its dimensional accuracy and the dimensions were found to be with in acceptable allowed limits. A trial assembly of one complete dome was done by FRP division to ensure perfect closure of the dome. All the panels were packed and transported to IAF HINDAN. After complete assembly inner surface was painted with a special reflective paint (Reflectivity - 0.4 to 0.5), gray in color. A set of 9 holes of l mm diameter were drilled on the internal surface of the dome, for calibration of dome projectors positioning. Two domes of 9m diameter was successfully installed in the tight time schedule to the complete satisfaction of the end user IAF and also the projector suppliers requirement were all met. The installation work took 42 working days with 22 peoples working for the first 18 days and 12 people working for the next 24 days.
